The Kappa Delta Pi Educational Foundation was established in 1980 to further the vision of KDP founder William C. Bagley, who wrote in 1912, “be faithful to the trusteeship of the most priceless legacy that the past has left to the present and to the future”—the great truths accumulated in our collective knowledge. Thus, the Educational Foundation’s purpose and goals are to support the mission, programs, and activities of Kappa Delta Pi. By garnering resources, the Educational Foundation enables Kappa Delta Pi to:
• promote scholarship and excellence;
• support the development and dissemination of important ideas and advancements in practice;
• foster the professional growth and leadership of its diverse membership;
• encourage identity and reflection on critical issues in education; and
• maintain a high degree of professionalism among its members.

What does a gift to the Educational Foundation accomplish?

Through its Educational Foundation, Kappa Delta Pi:
• gives more than $100,000 in scholarships each year to deserving students;
• awards 50 grants to practicing teachers for innovative classroom ideas;
• encourages children to read well and often by promoting and sponsoring reading-related programs;
• promotes public interest in teaching by bringing together middle school and high school students to showcase the profession; and
• advances professional development by offering dozens of local conferences and workshops.
